This Privacy Policy applies to both the Qwava app and the Qwava website (www.qwava-app.com).

We care deeply about privacy and have designed Qwava to collect only what is strictly necessary to provide the service.

Qwava App Privacy Policy

What we collect and why

The Qwava app operates in two modes depending on how you use it.

Guest mode (no account)

When you use Qwava without creating an account, all your data including saved decks, favorites, questions played, questions shared, and the people you record as recipients is stored locally on your device only. Nothing is sent to us or to third parties.

To enable certain features, the app creates a silent anonymous identifier via Firebase Authentication (Google LLC). This identifier has no connection to your name, email address, or any personal information. It is used solely to maintain your session and enable future features like cross-device sync.

If you use Qwava without an account, you can remove everything by deleting the app, since nothing is stored outside your device.

Account mode (optional)

If you choose to create an account, you can sign in with an email address and password, with Google, or, on iOS, with Apple. We collect your email address and an optional display name, stored securely via Firebase Authentication (Google LLC) and used only for account management such as password resets.

While you are signed in, your in app activity also syncs to the cloud so it is available across your devices. This includes the decks you play, your play counts, your favorites, the questions you save and share, the names you give to the people you share questions with, anything optional you choose to add about them such as how you met, shared interests, how far apart you live, and their birthday, and which messaging app a question went out through.

It is stored privately under your account in Cloud Firestore (Google LLC) and is readable only by you. The names you record are simply the words you type; Qwava never reads your phone's contacts, and the people you record are visible only to you. It is never used for advertising and never shared with third parties for advertising. We do not send marketing emails. When you sign out, this synced activity is removed from the device and restored when you sign back in.

Analytics

The app currently uses no analytics or tracking service. If this ever changes, this policy will be updated here first, and any tool we adopt will collect no personally identifiable information.

Data storage and transfers

Account data and synced activity are stored on Firebase infrastructure operated by Google LLC, in the European Union (Firestore region eur3, Europe). Your data may be processed by Google in accordance with their privacy policy and the EU US Data Privacy Framework.

Legal basis under GDPR

The processing of personal data is based on the following legal grounds under the GDPR:

• Anonymous identifiers: Article 6(1)(f) legitimate interest in providing the service

• Account data and synced activity: Article 6(1)(b) performance of a contract, specifically providing the account and cross device sync features you have requested

• Display name: Article 6(1)(a) consent, since this is entirely optional

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data.

You can delete your account and everything in it directly in the app, on both iOS and Android. Open the More tab and choose Delete account. You will confirm it is you before it goes through. This removes your account and all data held under it: your play activity, favorites, saved questions, sent questions, the people you recorded, and your settings for each person. Deletion is immediate and permanent, and nothing is kept afterwards.

You can also request deletion at any time by emailing info@qwava-app.com and we will delete your account and associated data within 30 days.

Child Safety

Qwava is designed for users aged 18 and over. The app strictly prohibits any content or behavior that sexually exploits or abuses minors. This includes but is not limited to the sharing, creation, or distribution of content that sexualizes children in any way.

Any user found to be using Qwava in violation of these standards will have their account terminated immediately. Where required by law, such violations will be reported to the relevant authorities.

Qwava Website Privacy Policy

Hosting and server logs

Our site is built with Framer and hosted by Strato AG (Pascalstraße 10, 10587 Berlin, Germany). When you visit the site, Strato automatically collects basic server logs such as IP address, date and time of access, browser type, and operating system. These are stored temporarily for technical operation and security.

No cookies or analytics

We do not use cookies, analytics tools, or third-party tracking services on this website.

Email contact

If you email us directly, we will use your data only to reply and will delete it once your request is resolved.

Legal basis

Data processing by Strato is based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, legitimate interest in ensuring the secure operation of the website.
